Technical Session 2: Technology and Innovation

Time: 14:45 - 15:45
Venue: Weißer Saal

AI & Integrated Urban Mobility: Building Resilience or Selling Promises?

Data and digital innovation are transforming the way cities plan and implement sustainable mobility. Yet while tools like Artificial Intelligence (AI) offer promising solutions to make transport systems safer, more inclusive, and efficient, their impact remains limited by one key factor: data. Globally, only a small share of cities have access to reliable, comprehensive transport data. This session takes a critical look at the role of data and emerging digital tools—including, but not limited to, AI—in integrated urban mobility planning and implementation. It will explore both real-world applications and untapped potential, shedding light on where innovation is delivering results, where it’s falling short, and why.
